In this extended fairy tale set on New Year’s Eve, you play as a nameless little girl, barefoot and freezing in a lonely corner of town, and clutching the four matches she failed to sell. But when she lights a match for warmth, its wonderful flame shows her… it’s like she’s there in Paris, France, but as a ghost. Soon, she will have to wake and light a second match.
Originally released as an exclusive game for the author’s Patreon program, this game is now available for everyone to play.
How the Little Match Girl Got Her Colt Paterson Revolver, and Taught a Virtue to a Goblin (2023) by Ryan Veeder (as “Hans Christian Andersen”)
In this game, you play as the little girl now known as Ebenezabeth. You intend to practice your newly-discovered ability to transport yourself to other places and times by looking at a fire. Your new papa, Ebenezer Scrooge, lights the fireplace, a wax candle, and an oil lamp for you. He points out the streetlamp outside the window is also a flame, so that’s four fires for you to practice with.
This game was written for #EnigMarch 2023.
The Little Match Girl 2: Annus Evertens (2020, 2022, 2023) by Ryan Veeder (as “Hans Christian Andersen”)
Once again, you play as Ebenezabeth Scrooge, the little match girl who transports herself to other places and times just by looking at fire and is now a time-traveling assassin. It’s New Year’s Eve, the anniversary of your adoption-day, but before you can have any cake, the sparrows on the roof hire you to kill an old man whom they describe to you.
Originally released as a Patreon-exclusive, this game was later re-released for everyone to play.
The Little Match Girl and Her Friend, the Crow (2023) by Ryan Veeder (as “Hans Christian Andersen”)
In this game, you play as Ebenezabeth Scrooge, the little match girl who transports herself to other places and times just by looking at fire. In the attic, she tearfully lights a candelabrum, explaining to her friend, Hrieman the crow, that Linus killed the Prepotence. The crow accompanies the girl in her quest to make things right.
This game was written for Drawlloween 2023.

Once again, you play as Ebenezabeth Scrooge, the little match girl who transports herself to other places and times just by looking at fire. This story begins in the clouds. The King of Birds has been transfigured into a wet snail, and you must disenchant him with a magic whistle. Which melody will you play?
This game was written for #EnigMarch 2022 (which was in 2023). Within the Little Match Girl series, this game happens after How the Little Match Girl Got Her Colt Paterson Revolver, and Taught a Virtue to a Goblin and before The Little Match Girl 2: Annus Evertens.
The One That Got Away (1995) by Leon Lin (as “The Author”)
On a fishing trip, you overhear about a legendary fish, The Old One, that appears once every thirty years, including this year. You thrill to the challenge. You will succeed where others failed. The Old One will not be The One That Got Away.
This game was an entry in IF Comp 1995 where it took 3rd place.
The Purple Pearl (2023) by Amanda Walker
In this small fantasy two-player puzzlefest, the Purple Pearl of Luck has been stolen from the kingdom, and you two volunteered to help get it back. To test your capabilities, the king imprisons you in separate cells where you must solve puzzles and cooperate with each other until you both have escaped.
This game was an entry in the Classic division of ParserComp 2023 where it tied for 1st place.

Shaka! (2023) by Olaf Nowacki
In this small game, you play as an office worker. After arriving at your cubicle, you belatedly remember that it’s Hawaiian shirt day, and you forgot to dress properly. Oh no! You forgot to get dressed! You’re only in your undies. You need to get home quick without anyone seeing you naked, but how?
This game was an entry in PunyJam #4 where it took NTH place.
